What is Audio & Video File Verification and why would I want it?
In essence, File Verification is the process of you sending us your Audio and/or Video files for inspection to see what META data (information other than sound and video) is stored inside your files before you go and upload them online, send them to radio and other distribution, and send them for registration to Copyright.gov and Mediabase for airplay tracking.
Files that we receive to be embedded or stripped often come loaded with all kinds of junk data inside of them including incorrect titles, artist name, track numbers, and loads of advertising & junk data from mastering, transcoding, file conversion and other software/services that processed your files. This data is stored in sections of the files that you may not be able to access yourself without special software.
Our Audio/Video Experts inspect your files for you and send you a quick snapshot of what we find hidden inside of them.
This can be done either:
- Before you decide if you want to do stripping (to see if there is anything to strip/clean),
- Or, along with our embedding service if you want verification that we did the embedding to your specifications and want a verification snapshot of what we put in your files
- Or, along with stripping if you want a verification snapshot that your files are now 100% clean

Why would I want my audio or video files verified?
There are a few reasons to consider file verification:
- If you had embedding done on your files and are not 100% sure that the correct data (ISRC Code, UPC Code, Artist Name, Title, etc.) was programmed into your file.
- You are submitting to one of the online music distribution services (aggregators) are now requesting that the files submitted to them be stripped of all META data or to Mediabase (the service used to track airplay) who also wants files submitted to them to be stripped of any META data, and you are not certain that your files are 100% clean of any META data, junk information, and SPAM advertising by third parties.

Will the quality or content of my music or video be affected by file verification?
No, it will not. Our software is not capable of accessing the music or video portion of your files. Since we only inspect the metadata portion of your files, our work does not affect the actual audio or video content portion of your file in any way. It is important to us to respect and protect the integrity of our customers’ work!
How long does it take to verify my audio or video files?
We deliver your verification back to you via email on the same business day (Monday – Friday) if you complete the order and supply us your files before 4pm EST.
How do I get the audio or video files to you and back from you?
If you only have one file to be verified, you can send it to us via email. For several tracks, especially videos, you may upload your files to our file exchange server by clicking here ISRC.WeTransfer.com (be sure to reference your order number!) or use your own online storage service like WeTransfer, Google Drive, or Dropbox, or a music sharing site.
Can I do the audio & video file verification myself?
Some authoring software and online music services allow you to display some of the META information that is inside your files. Extremely few are capable of displaying all of it. Hence the importance of hiring a professional to do this.
If you have the required tools and the professional skills to access ALL of the metadata of the file yourself, then sure, you could. But at only $5 a song/video, why would you want to?

Is file verification required?
No.
However, it is important that you know what is inside your work (aside from your content) before you upload it on the Internet for distribution.
You really need to know if your files are embedded properly for the services that want fully embedded files or stripped completely clean for those services that prefer the stripped versions.
