ISRC Codes for iTunes

Important information for those of you who apply to list directly with iTunes:

The initial application at iTunes Connect currently asks you to: “provide your 3-character ISRC registration code.

Their request is a bit awkward, especially without any explanation, and the folks at the ISRC headquarters are reaching out to Apple to get this addressed.

What iTunes is asking you for here is nothing more than characters 3, 4, and 5 of your ISRC codes. This is the same for each ISRC that you purchase from us. Simply look at one of the ISRCs that we issued to you and take characters 3 through 5 and that’s what you enter on the iTunes Connect form. Simple enough!

Later in the process, once you are approved for iTunes, they will ask you to supply your complete 12-character ISRC codes for each track that you plan to sell on iTunes. They will also ask you for a UPC code for each whole album download that you plan to offer.
